Aerial Map Quilt

Hello everyone...

I wanted to show something that I've been wanting to make for a while now
Its an Aerial view map - turned into a quilt.

This isn't anywhere particular - its just a birds eye view of a town and surrounding farming areas.
The pattern measures 40"

I have so many scraps so I thought this would be an excellent way of working that mountain down, but now Im not sure if I should rather have made it with brighter colours.

Its really such an easy pattern - maybe I'll make 2 (one with subdued greens and then one with bright solids) and then see how I feel...

This is part of the first block (I've divided it up into 4 sections).

Anyway, that's it for Monday...

Hope you all have a great week!

Week-end Warrior Project #2

Hello to everyone joining in again...

We're making a small project every second week-end that can be finished quickly and also useful....

This week we're in the market for Bookmarks....

My daughter has a whole collection of bookmarks and is an A Grade bookworm...
I don't mind having a cute bookmark too...

So here's the plan...

I found these online to get a good idea of what
is possible.....ANYTHING at all......
You can make the most amazing bookmarks
with scraps, with any technique.....
Its awesome!

For our Project #2 we are going to try making our own little Apple Bookmark Corner and then a second straight forward one with Wonky Geese. You can make whichever you like.

Here are a few instructions I made for the completing of the Apple Bookmark Corner.....

Here's to hoping that Friday night TV is up to %&* and I can get busy and sew myself a few cute bookmarks....                  I hope you'll join me.

You can get your FREE pattern for the bookmarks here (both are in one PDF) .....<<<<<

Week #3 of our Fox in the Garden QaL

 Hello to everyone out there....

Today we're on Week #3 of our Fox in the Garden Quilt a Long.
This is a really relaxed, slow, easy to do  - wall hanging of sorts...

Today we add the trees next to the house and then we move onto the front wall and the dogs in the snow.

These are the pieces for this week.
You really can't tell me that's a lot of work...

As usual I taped the pieces together and then worked on one a day... I'm really taking this one slow...

 Our finished pieces

and then to sew them to the side of the house...

and here it is... the house section is finished , now on to do the wall and those tiny dogs...

'Tis Friday...

Hello there everyone....

I'm trying to learn German so....... Hallo zusammen!

This Friday is our "off week-end" so I'm just going to show the small project I finished last week.

We made a quick Mug Rug. If you scroll on down to last Friday's post, the pattern is still available for you to download.

This one went very fast and was grabbed up just as fast. I didn't even get to take a photo until a few days later, and it was already being used.

I've only seen one other on FB and it was so cute!
This one was made by Leonore Vogel of Germany.

I really hope you enjoyed sewing your quick project.

Have a great week-end!

Bye... Tsch├╝ss

Week 2 - Fox in the Garden QaL

Hi there everyone...

Its already Week 2 of our quick little Quilt A Long

The Fox in the Garden mini is really easy to put together and I have to keep telling myself to not run on ahead, but slowly sew the pieces and enjoy the process.

This was week 1

We couldn't join anything yet...

And now

This is Week 2 of our qal...
The cute front of the house is done.

I forgot to make the window next to the door in the yellow fabric - to show there is someone at home... so I just added that to the window at the end... no problem.

I have no problem with you changing up colours as you go.

and now you can sew everything together too...

So very cute!!

Im using scraps from my bins to get that mountain down a little and this project seems to be way too small for it...

Will have to make a few more of these....
Maybe a series of quilt a longs with Mr Fox ...

I hope you're also having fun with your cute Quilt a Long mini...

Bitty Blocks 2018

Hello everyone...

Today we're going to be carrying on with our Bitty Blocks

The point of these tiny blocks was for those who love a challenge, who love making small projects.
I know they're not for everyone because of their tiny size, but I did add an enlarging guide for those who would rather have a larger block.

No idea why I can't upload any of the images.... just keeps bombing....
Here's the link to the block at Craftsy anyway...

I hope those of you who enjoy these blocks will give it a try...

Some Friday Night Sewing....

Hi there

I was sitting thinking of what I could do on the blog that would be quick to sew, and only require a few hours to actually finish the project or maybe over a week-end.
I always had a Friday Fun day, but those projects would sometimes just be too big to finish quickly...

SO I remembered that Craftsy had a Week-end Warriors thing going on a few years back - not sure if they still do it... but I wanted it to be along those lines....

Im going to post a Friday Week-end project on every second Friday because we still need to have a week-end doing absolutely nothing

(thought about it for a second, then laughed.....)

This Friday Week-end Project I'm making a Mug Rug.

I need a new one - so this seems a good place to start.
The Coffee Mug mugrug block (coloured blocks) measure 6x8" (16x20cm) and can be easily made with scraps you have.

The larger block with the added borders make up a 10" (26cm) block.
You can decide which you would like to make...

The download is through my google drive, so you get it FREE and right away...<<<<
like a takeaway.... lol!!

I hope you'll join me and send me photos of your finished mugrug...

I hope you're going to have some fun with these small projects!!

Quilt a Long #1

Hello everyone!

Today I'm starting with the first in a line of Quilt A Longs...
Naturally you don't have to do all of them, just those you feel you would like to.... so NO pressure...

I heard someone talking on Instagram about a Sew a Long they were busy with (quilt blocks) and I was wondering "what is the difference?" Is there something else that is done on a sew a long than a quilt a long. You musn't forget I've only been doing this for about 4 1/2 years now - and most of my time is spent with paper piecing...

The Quilt-A-Long happening here is called "Fox in the Garden"....

Its a quick 7 week - very relaxed - small 16x24" (41x60cm) mini quilt slash wall hanging...

This is our cute mini that we will be tackling...

Over the next seven weeks  we will be making small sections at a time and by end of February you will have finished this cutie... Nothing stopping you from moving a lot faster too.

I've added it to my Craftsy shop for those who would like to also get in on the action...

Okay....... lets start

I start with cutting out the pattern pieces and putting them into piles according to the alphabet on them.

Then sort each pile into ascending alphabet too.
Helps a lot when I'm working with larger patterns and then I can just grab the pieces I need quickly.

You will see that the pattern instructions is divided into the 7 sections we are going to be working on.

The first section is from A to H.

I've joined the sections that were broken up by the software by joining them to their corresponding number with tape.

I always lay the section I'm working on in front of me to get the overall idea of what I'm doing.
I've already decided to use my mountain of scraps for this project, so I sorted out a few colours I could use for the background etc.

Then I start making each of the pieces and then sew them all together - the instructions will also tell you exactly how to fit it all together.

This is the first section finished....
Yaay!

I haven't sewn anything since August when my arm was really starting to be such a horror story.... so now that its almost a normal arm again, I wanted to start sewing something - not too big - just to get my mojo going again...

Once the second section is done we will sew these two together and have a cute house.

Now its up to you..... Will you join me?

Quick link to the pattern is HERE.....<<<<<

Here's a look at the joining of the sections - the way I do it - no problem if you do it another way...

These two pieces need to be joined. They both have the same number where it says "Glue Edge #14"

I normally cut off one of those edges on the line just under the glue edge words.

Then I place the part that I cut over onto the top of the glue edge up to the line underneath the glue edge words.

I just use tape. Washi tape, sellotape, thin masking tape..... makes no difference.... just don't iron onto the tape part... You can use glue if you want to  - just make sure its dry before sewing.

I hope you're going to have some fun with this small project!!

January Block of the Month

Hello to everyone!

A very Happy New Year to all of you. I hope it will be a year filled with peace and loads of sewing...

Today I get to reveal the
Block of the Month for January.

Our theme this year is "Into the Wild" but we will be concentrating on Birds...

The blocks will also have a strong Charley Harper influence to them along with a little of myself mixed in there too.

I really hope you enjoy the blocks this year.

The first block up is a 'Vireo' and our block has the moon behind them showing through the leaves...
The block measures 16" (41cm) and is on the Intermediate level

Here is a block sewn up for us by Joan Wintersgill of Texas.

The pattern has 2 different colour ways. You can sew your bird in the bright colour or the more natural (as in nature) colours.

Either way its really beautiful .... its up to you.

I have added both colour ways in the pattern with fabric charts and patterns for both.

This is the block in the natural colours sewn by Ulrike Brandl of Germany.

The pattern was reduced to make an 8" block. Its amazing!

This block was sewn by Mania Hatziionannidi of Greece.

I love the dark background fabric!

This cute as can be cushion was made up by Magdalena Alge.
Isn't it beautiful! So pretty.

You can go and download your Free for the Month pattern

Once the new block arrives in February this block will be a paid block.

I hope you all enjoy the Block of the Month this year....
Here is some of the other blocks I have done, but I just haven't had time to finish them all yet...
