Wonky Neighbours

 Hello Everyone!
Today we're trying once again with our Wonky Neighbours....

We had a pattern change and if you've already got the old one, then go and get yourself a free update at Craftsy. If you're already busy with the old then by all means carry on with that one.

The pattern measures 24" (62cm) and is on the Easy Intermediate Level.
Its divided into 3 rows.

The first row went together really quickly and Im getting to use up a lot of little scraps from older projects.

The idea is to use up all your scraps you have lying around or those that are too small for any other project. I've added a fabric guide but all you really need there is the amount of fabric for the background. You can make yours scrappy, a night scene, a snow scene - anything you like.

With my old houses, I had a blue snow patterned background and I felt that the bold houses really fought with it and this time around Im using the light snowy background and I feel much better about it.

Thanks for all the encouragement and the positive comments.

New Pattern is in my Craftsy Shop...

Have a great week-end!

Landscape Row #3

Hi all, today is the Landscape Rows turn

How is your progress looking?

This is my first and second block on Landscape #3

I wanted the sky to be in a different colour than light blue, so I opted for the grey. Still not too sure about it, but once the row is all finished then I'll see....

Now I need to get busy with blocks 3 and 4......

This cute row was made by Nicole who added it to a FB group I also see
Its absolutely gorgeous! Love those fabrics!!!
Thanks so very much for sharing your progress with me.

I hope you're all still busy with your Landscape rows... You all still have time to get yours done.  Landscape Row #4 will be available on 14 June.

You could still join us if you'd like....
Landscape rows 1 - 3 are in my Craftsy Shop.

If you have any photos you would like to share, you can always link them to our Flickr group.
Thanks

Wonky Neighbourhood

My Wonky Dresden Neighbours pattern has been deleted....
It was much too similar to another pattern on craftsy..... and I had to change mine...not a problem!

This is the new Wonky Neighbours pattern

The pattern also measures 24" (62cm) and is on the intermediate easy level.

If you have already got yourself the previous pattern, then you can go and download yourself the new one (free) through Craftsy. I added it as an update.

The pattern is written so that it will be made in 3 rows and then sewn together to form the neighbourhood. The centre part is a 'wonky park with fountain or pond'.

The idea is to use up all your scraps you have lying around or those that are too small for any other project. I've added a fabric guide but all you really need there is the amount of fabric for the background. You can make yours scrappy, a night scene, a snow scene - anything you like.

I only made one of the blocks from my other pattern, so Im going to scrap that and start over. To those who are further along - please carry on, don't let this get in your way.

Thanks for all the encouragement and the positive comments.

New Pattern is in my Craftsy Shop...

Art with Fabric Day #3

Day #3

Our theme for this year's Art with Fabric was "Women" -
We were to find an art piece made or composed by a woman and which depicted "women".

I love the Art Deco style and I found the works of Tamara de Lempicka. A woman who 'made it' in a very much man's world of the time.

Her painting "Kizette" is of her daughter which was really very sweet, although somewhat off in proportions..... The cute face of the child has a wierd adult body..........

But apart from all of that - I decided that I would make my version of it with the paper piecing quilting technique - but of course......

This is the design that I made and it measures 20 x 24" (51x62cm)

Im actually a little sorry I didn't make it wider, but that was only once I was just about finished and there was no going back......

After choosing fabrics for the project it was a matter of where to start.....

The skin colour fabrics are sooooooo hard to find and I had to go down the road of "I'll use patterned fabrics - it will be okay"......

I started with the hair and trying to get the curls with highlights and dark areas to look like something.....

The patterned fabrics in the hair went really well and I was happy with how it all turned out.

Then came the face and the skin tones.....

I started with the eyes and then moved on to the cheeks and mouth, but Im still not entirely sold on using patterned fabrics for the face.......

This was the finished top...

My daughter kept on telling me it looked like a young version of myself.....

I suppose with the blonde curly hair and blue eyes it could have been....

But no! that wasn't what I was going for....
I now have a Lempicka of my own.
A strong woman doing it her way in a man's world - kicking butt and taking names!!!
My kind of lady....

And then came the "fun" of doing some FMQ on the top.....
Its genuinely nerve wracking....
I had no idea what the hell I was doing...... and I could only work on it for around a half hour and had to stop. My arms were numb all the way up to my elbows.... FMQ is not for the faint hearted.

Looking at it up close makes me want to just throw it out..... but hanging on the wall and standing back and letting everything just come together, I can say "Okay" and lift my finger and make a sign of a tick in the air.

Friday Fun Day!!

Hi Everyone!
WOW its weekend already....

Today we're having a great Giveaway!!

A while ago I made this cute Bobcat Mini for a swap.
Now you can all make one too....

This pattern is a copy of a Charley Harper print called Bobcat and cannot be sold....
(copyright - I get it) - but no-one said it can't be used in a giveaway....Yaaay!

The whiskers on the nose and around the eyes I added in later because that would have just made the pattern into a nightmare....

I hope you all enjoy your Bobcat mini...
Have a wonderful week-end.
